I have as much time as anyone. The problem is that we do not know how to use it. We do not use it properly, and we waste it on things that are not worthwhile. If we were to make the best use of our time, we would find that we have more than enough of it. It is not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it. Life is long enough, and a sufficiently generous amount has been given to us for the highest achievements, if we use it properly. But when it is wasted in heedless luxury and spent on no good activity, we realize that we have left us only a small part of it. So it is, we are dying of the disease of time wasted. This is why it is so important to reflect on your life and to question whether you are living with purpose or merely letting time pass by, without any thought of its value.
Every day, when I retire to my thoughts, I review the actions of the day and evaluate them as if they were moments in a play. What did I do well? What could I have done better? I take stock of my decisions, my emotions, and my words. These are the exhibits in the museum of my mind. I cannot simply let time pass without considering whether I am growing or losing ground. Life is short, and it is only by reflection that we can truly make the most of it. The more you reflect, the more you will become aware of your imperfections, and the more you will be able to correct them. It is a process of self-purification. The truly wise person does not let a single day pass without taking the opportunity to reflect, refine, and improve.
It is often the case that we think we have more time because the years pass so quickly, and we are so absorbed in our work and our concerns. But in fact, it is the passage of time that reminds us that life is fleeting. If we do not spend it wisely, we will find ourselves at the end of our lives, realizing too late that we have not used our time in a way that truly matters. We must learn to prioritize our time, focusing on those things that bring us meaning and fulfillment, and eliminate the distractions that take us away from our true purpose.
Time is the one thing we can never get back, and yet it is the one thing we often take for granted. It is essential that we learn to use it well, so that we can look back at the end of our lives and say that we lived a life of meaning, a life of purpose, a life that was not wasted.
